KZLA 93.9 "America's most listened to country station" underwent a format change on Thursday August 17, 2006. They changed from playing country music to a pop format focusing on R&B and dance tunes due to the direction of the station owners Emmis Communications. The listeners as well as the radio station staff were not given any notice of the demise of the country format that had made up KZLA for the past 26 years. This loss of a beloved country music station in the Los Angeles area (the 2nd largest radio market) is unbelievable and uncomprehensible. I ask that you, the listeners who made KZLA one of the biggest and best country music stations in California to sign this petition to bring back country music radio to the Los Angeles area. We also hope to bring back our beloved KZLA station DJ's who are now out of a job including Peter Tilden, Shawn Parr, Ashley Paige, Whitney Allen, Brian Douglas as well as the rest of the awesome airstaff.
