Please make a safe pedestrian footpath to South Valla Beach
The danger of pedestrians walking on a road, a road designated for cars, is not resolved by putting speed bumps on the road.
The speed bumps on the road to South Valla Beach are highly inappropriate and a waste of rate payers money.
The only way to ensure pedestrian safety is to either reinstate the old foot path which has become over grown, or make a safe pedestrian foot path beside the road.
Adding speed bumps to the road does not slow all the cars down, many , especially in SUV and 4WD can and do drive over the bumps at 50kms per hour. Yes they will likely damage their cars, but the fact that pedestrians are forced to share a long length of road with any cars is a recipe for disaster.
Many surfers, fishermen, swimmers, tourists, road workers and beach walkers drive this road every day. Even at slow speeds damage can result to cars suspension tyres and wheel alignment. Especially when many drivers use this road twice a day. Thats 3 speed bumps twice a day up and down the hill, or 2190 sped bumps a year.
People walking the road should have a safe footpath. Mothers push prams down this hill and over the speed bumps, that seems very sad. Mothers and fathers should be able to take their children to the beach without the need to push pram over speed bumps and share a road with cars.
