We the undersigned recognise that there is an urgent need to rebuild the communities around the Indian Ocean which were shattered by the Tsunami. We also believe that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to substantially improve the lives of those who were disabled by the terrible wave, disabled people already living in the affected areas and those disabled tourists who would like to visit the rebuilt communities and help with the economic regeneration of the area.
We call upon those responsible to ensure that the new communities are truly accessible to all, so that disabled people participate in the regeneration of the places where they live, work and visit.
