Calabasas High School Baseball Program Letter of Support

This petition is intended to communicate to you the will of the community and is signed by the Families of the LVUSD & Calabasas High School Parents.

The Calabasas High School Baseball Program needs your support.

We want you to know that we are not happy with how you and your representitives handled the recent difficulties of finalizing the new baseball facility. We are also unhappy with how you treated OUR Head Coach and OUR Baseball Program. This reflects badly on our school and badly on our community. Besides the bad publicity, and the potential negative impact to the value of our own personal second greatest investments, our homes, you have also poorly handled something that we feel is critical to protecting our single greatest investment; OUR KIDS. This must be corrected and must not happen again. We want you to look after our interests, and keep the sports programs at CHS (and in particualr the baseball program) robust, competitive, and consistent with the quality of the programs we all work so hard to maintain in our community at places like Westhills Baseball and Agoura Pony Baseball! CHS baseball should be a step up for the participants in the community, not a step down. Bret Saberhagen gave us hope for a step up with his vision and leadership and we support that vision and hope you will to.

We are asking you to make sure this kind of failure never happens again. We want you to be on the same page with us, and make sure that the sports programs are more of a priority.

Specifically:

We want the LVUSD/CHS Administrators to:

1. Meet with Bret Saberhagen and agree with him on his requirements for returning to CHS as the Head Baseball Coach.
2. Have CHS officials take responsibility and complete oversight, for any facility deficiencies and code infractions in a timely fashion so that the program has the proper field availability.
3. Have CHS officials support the Head Coach in the future, so that he can focus on the Baseball and the Players. He should not be expected to be a full time general contractor and bureaucratic administrator. That is not why you hired him in the first place.
4. Ensure that CHS Administrators keep the Baseball program, and the sports programs in general, progressive, so that they are competitive with the other local schools. ( i.e. Agoura, El Camino, Chatsworth, Cleveland )

This is for OUR children and OUR community and we will not accept failure to meet these goals. We are a community that supports our children with our time and our money. This is an asset to you in achieving your goals. We do appreciate all of your efforts in fulfilling your duties on our behalf - and we want to be proud of your future efforts and results.
