Castlevania: Simon Belmont in Super Smash Bros Brawl

As you are all aware, Castlevania has always enjoyed a cult fanbase. This, of course means that there isn't much in the way of collectibles other than an Alucard plushie I wish I had, but also that the series has managed to avoid being bastardized to appeal to casual gamers, save for a few attempts at 3D games and an upcoming movie which will likely exist only for the fact that Castlevania doesn't rake in enough cash, and has been just as enjoyable as always.
Many people have complained that Castlevania shouldn't be present in SSBB because "Konami is already in SSBB", "Castlevania isn't popular enough", and of course those that believe the presence of third parties is a travesty to SSBB. Super Smash Bros Brawl is adding Metaknight, who has garnered a huge fanbase despite never starring in a single game. Pit was only in two games, and he hasn't done a thing for Nintendo in decades, but he is returning. Just like Simon Belmont, it doesn't matter if he hasn't been on an adventure in years, they still both have fanbases who care for them greatly. Solid Snake is making a guest appearance, at both the delight and chagrin of fans. Some people believe third parties have ruined the purity of SSB's Nintendo Allstar theme, but it is not like they chose a random character from a random game. Solid Snake has made it a possibility for Simon Belmont. Snake has done little for Nintendo, save for Twin Snakes, which included numerous Nintendo references which sort of opened the deal. While he DID appear on the NES, the role was insignificant, much like Richter Belmont's debut on a Nintendo system. Snake appears not only for the sake of Hideo Kojima, but for the fact that while Nintendo makes great games and great series, they are not the only force in gaming. Many other companies make great games. I doubt that most of Nintendo's employees have only played their own work, I'm sure they even have their competitor's systems at home! Gaming isn't a console and a series, SSB appeals to fans of gaming, and so far has catered to the tastes of Nintendo fans. However, the presence of Snake has added a whole spectrum of possibilities, and while Sakurai stated he only wanted 1-2 more third party characters at most, that alone can have a big impact, just looking at what Snake has done. Snake is a very likable character who has built quite a legacy since his comeback in Metal Gear Solid. While little has been done in the way of MGS being on Nintendo, and his presence in SSBB will raise sales for a game on a competitor's console, all of that is irrelevent. Many of us are Nintendo fans. Many are also MGS fans. SSBB will only be more enjoyable with a mixture of many things we love. It's not about consoles and companies, it's about the games we love. We all wish for Simon Belmont to follow after and break the boundaries keeping him from being in SSBB. Although Simon isn't nearly as big as Snake, and Castlevania doesn't have the biggest fanbase ever, characters like Pit have returned, and for what it's worth, Simon Belmont, the hero many of us assumed the role of in the 80's in our first Castlevania, witnessed in horror at his campy presence in Captain N alongside Pit and Megaman, and introduced us to the series that would spawn classics such as Symphony of the Night and the Japan-only Rondo of Blood, along with, for the most part, being so closely involved with Nintendo as to appear in Captain N, and being part of a series that has been primarily a part of Nintendo, with only about two worthy games being on other systems, we believe that Castlevania is a significant part of Nintendo history and that Simon Belmont ultimately deserves a spotlight in Super Smash Bros Brawl. Afterall, Castlevania convinced many of us to buy a GBA, and Dawn of Sorrow is quite possibly the DS's best game so far. Thank you for your time, please consider our wishes.
