CBS Retract Dan Rather Story about President Bush

During this political season and presidential election race, CBS News and its "News" shows 60 Minutes, 60 Minutes II and CBS News with Dan Rather have climbed to the apex of Liberal Media Bias. The shows have highlighted authors and books attacking the president and most recently the former Democratic Lt. Governor of Texas, a John Kerry supporter and fundraiser making allegations contrary to those that he has sworn to in the past under oath.

In its zeal to damage the sitting president, a man who brought honor and dignity back to the white house after 8 years of Scandal and dishonor, Dan Rather and CBS used documents that cannot be authenticated and are widely considered in the forensic/document examining community to be fraudulent and/or forgeries.

This petition seeks to have CBS news disclose the "source" of the documents, retract its story publicly and devote a show solely to apologize to the President of the United States for its attempt to destroy him. If CBS is truly in the dark about the source of the memo's, then it should conduct an independent investigation into the handling of this story by Mr. Rather and should take appropriate disciplinary action against him, up to and including his termination from CBS.
