Centrum Mot Rasism namnдndring av kvarteret negern i Karlstad

Centrum mot rasism (CMR) och dess medlemsorganisationer kommer att цverlдmna en petition till Stadsbyggnadsnдmndens ordfцrande i Karlstads kommun, Hеkan Holm (s). Petitionen kommer att vara till stцd fцr en дndring av kvartersnamnet Negern till nеgot som inte дr rasistiskt och krдnkande mot personer med afrikansk bakgrund. Petitionen kommer att цverrдckas den 23 september, samma dag som Stadsbyggnadsnдmnden rцstar om namnдndringsfцrslaget. Hur rцstningen kommer att gе дr osдkert men samtliga fyra remissinstanser Lantmдteriet, Lдnsstyrelsen i Vдrmland, Vдrmlands museum och Carlstadsgillet rekommenderar att namnet behеlls. Lantmдteriet skriver i sitt utlеtande att de finner namnet exotiskt och fantasieggande. Varken nеgra afrosvenska eller antirasistiska organisationer fick vara med i remissfцrfarandet.

Kvarteret har haft namnet Negern i 150 еr men det inte passar in i dagens Sverige med de vдrderingar vi har idag. CMR planerar att цverlдmna petitionen tillsammans med hundratals namnunderskrifter som samlats in genom e-post, Facebook och дven denna petition.
