We should keep our parks as natural as possible. We have so little nature left in the city -- let's encourage it, rather than trimming it to meet some arbitrary definition of how trees "should" look.

I am very concerned as the trimmers destroyed the naturalized area along the river between Edinburgh and the Hanlon. They chopped down and took away many trees from the area. The city does not seem to have a policy on how to treat "naturalized" areas.

The lower branches on the spruce trees shade the roots, keep them them cool, keep the soil from becoming compacted, allow the needle mulch to accumulate and help to maintain moisture for the tree. Removing the bottom branches will place extra stress on th
