Clemency for Death Row Inmate Robert Jean HUDSON

Texas Death Row Inmate, Robert Jean Hudson # 999353, has been given an execution date of November 20th, 2008
We, the undersigned, are begging the Board of Pardons and Paroles to give clemency to Mr Hudson for the following reasons :
* Robert Hudson was convicted of murder in 2000. The crime, which Mr Hudson has always admitted to, was wrong, but it was never planned. Therefore, when given the facts, this was clearly a crime of passion ... something that, in Texas, is NOT supposed to be charged as capital murder.
* The sentencing phase of the trial was defective : the lawyers appointed by the Court grievously failed in their task, given that they did not plea any mitigating evidence, include relevant statements from relatives or facts regarding Mr Hudson's past (his psychiatric treatment since early childhood, his school years in special education, his very young and depressive mother, his alcoholic and Vietnam veteran father, his multiple serious injuries to the head, his cyclic depressions).
* Moreover, during the months that led up to his trial, and all through the trial itself, Mr Hudson was under medication (antidepressants) rendering him incapable of taking part in his trial or efficiently assisting his lawyers. The dosages of the medication were increased just before trial began.
* Mr Hudson is extremely remorseful for what happened, he has repeatedly expressed sorrow and regret for the victim, her family and especially for her sons. He is himself a caring and loving father whose own children, if his sentence is not commuted, will also have to learn to live with the loss of a parent. He has a loving family and many friends who love him dearly, he is very stable in all of his relationships. Mr Hudson has proved to be the perfect example of rehabilitation and spiritual development.
We appeal to you to grant Clemency, commute the death sentence of Robert Jean Hudson, and to conserve life.
