Petition to Build a combination skate park and BMX bike course Park in Williamsburg/James City County

Millions of kids love to Skate/Bike and need a safe place to practice their sport. But, building a skate/Bike park is a big investment.It is time to initiate a campaign to gain community support for a public combination skate park and BMX bike course. The problem is not skateboarding or Biking, but the lack of a suitable place for the sport.

Despite having a high proportion of young people under 18, there are few social facilities for dealing in this sport arena. There are an abundance of issues concerning anti-social behavior.
The need for and benefits of having a safe, legal area for this sport is a necessity. A combination skate park and BMX bike course could & may be the solution to a problem.

I believe along with countless others within the Virginia area, the idea of a Skate/Bike park would indeed make a positive contribution to the community. As with, creating a local focus for positive activities and help reduce crime and anti-social behavior. Williamsburg/James City County is home to an estimated population of - 61,249 individuals.

We the undersigned, as residents of Williamsburg/James City County, support the development of a legal area for the combination Skate Park and BMX bike course. We believe that there are countless benefits to having a safe, legal area for young people and adults to engage in the art and sport of BMX/Bike/Skate freestyle.

BMX freestye/Biking/Skate is no more dangerous than Football/Hockey/Tennis/Swimming/baseball or soccer.

For all of the above reasons, we recognize the need for and benefits of having a safe, legal area for a combination skate park and BMX bike course. It is time to initiate a campaign to gain community support for a combination Skate Park and BMX bike course
