Rick Whitcomb was a very caring, handsome, and wonderful person. He was only 23 years old when he was murdered by his ex-girlfriend, Vickie Frost. Rick was living with Vickie and her family in Gahanna, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. Vickie was mentally and physically abusive to Rick. Friends and family were witnesses to the terrible things shed do and say to him. Tired of the abuse, Rick decided to leave Vickie and was going to return home to Cleveland, Ohio to be with his family and friends and to start over. Because he wanted to do the right thing, he decided to give his employer two weeks notice and stay in Columbus until that time was up. Unfortunately, Rick never made it home alive.
On Friday, January 19, 1996, around 10:15 pm, Rick's life ended when, during an argument in the kitchen, Vickie grabbed a knife from the counter, walked across the kitchen towards Rick, and stabbed him once in the chest. Vickie's mother, Betty, and friend, Renee, were in the kitchen, along with Vickie's young daughter.
Rick made his way out to the front yard where he collapsed and took his final breathe. He was pronounced dead less than an hour later. He died alone on that cold January night without his family, without his friends.
Vickie pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter on July 1, 1996 and was sentanced to 7 - 25 years for the murder. She is eligible for parole in June 2005.
We, the undersigned, are strongly opposed to her parole and respectfully request that Vickie Frost serve the maximum time of her sentence.
