Haydon School's Head Of Sixth Form (Mr.Storey) Has Created A 'Sixth Form Sanctions' Behaviour Policy! Which Is Exactly The Same As The Rules For The Years 11 And Below Only With More Regulations And Causes For Punishment.
Meaning You Can Get A 50 Minute Detention For The Following Reasons:
1 - Wearing Shorts / Three Quarter Length Trousers (Despite The Fact Girls Are Fully Entitled To Wear Skirts Of A Certain Length)
2 - The Non Completion Of Homework Set.
3 - Having Headphones On Or In View While Outside Of The 6th Form Common Room.
4 - Not Having Your Student ID Card On Your Person In View.
These Are Some Of The Most Ridiculous & Un-Necessary Reasons Possible For A 50 Minute Detention. A Detention Should Not Have To Be Issued Which In Voluntary Education - Especially For A Reason That Could Be Considered Absurd Or Sexist. With Headphones, ID Cards & Shorts Not Affecting Our Education Haydon Has No Legal Right To Punish Us For Them. Not Only This, But Being Legally Known As Young Adults With Full Rights To Vote & Drive - It Seems Ridiculous To Have A Detention For Not Completing Homework! This Is Not The Way Voluntary Education Is Supposed To Work.
According To English Law If A Petition To Do With A Work Place, Educational Facility Or Public Service Is Able To Achieve Over 1,000 Signatures Then The Issue Is Legally Obliged To Be Reviewed. Meaning Haydon Would Have To Review This New Behavioural Policy. We Just Have To Achieve Our Goal For A Fair And Just Haydon 6th Form College!
