The federal government is set to provide $1.2 billion dollars to California for the sole purpose of saving teachers jobs. However, some state lawmakers have proposed diverting that $1.2 billion away from this intended purpose to reduce the state budget deficit.
I am a parent of a child who attends public school in California, and I am appalled that federal funded money is being diverted away from our public school system.
By signing this Petition, I am strongly opposed to state lawmakers using the $1.2 billion in federal money for decreasing the state budget deficit, and I urge you, our state lawmakers, to advocate that this money is not to be diverted and instead be used to fund our public school system.
