The Doane Stuart School located in Albany, NY has recently been deprived of their right to uphold a lease with the Convent of the Sacred Heart which allows the school to remain in place for the next seven years. Unfortunately, it seems as though we have failed to explore all options in holding our position as a school. We have been abruptly informed that our school will take part in a merge with our rival of 30 years: Albany Academy and Albany Academy for Girls. It is not an issue of one school being superior to the other, but an issue of culture. The schools we are dealing with are simply different in goals and ideals. Students that chose to attend the Doane Stuart School had the option of attending the Albany Academy schools, but chose Doane Stuart for a reason. The cultural differences between these two schools which have remained unspoken, yet evident, make this merger an even harder decision to swallow. If you would like to remain at the school you know and love, whether that be Doane Stuart or Albany Academy, please sign this petition and help us fight for our traditions and history.
