Dr. Bernhard Moeller Permanet Visa

With this petition, we hereby call for the reversal of a decision by the Australian Department of Immigration to reject a permanent visa to the family of Dr. Bernhard Moeller, on the grounds that his son Lukas (13) suffers from Down syndrome.

Dr. Moeller and his family have lived in Australia for two years after relocating from Germany, due to an international appeal for medical staff. During his two year stay he has provided invaluable medical knowledge and support to a rural Victorian town, by being the only full time hospital physician, as well as providing supervision and support to junior medical staff

We feel that the decision regarding Dr. Bernhard Moeller and his family is ignorant, discriminatory and frankly, bewildering. We are ever dealing with the disruption and closure of medical infrastructure, and should be welcoming the rebuilding through the efforts of people like Dr. Moeller.

Furthermore, we do not understand how the Australian Government, which has long championed the causes of civil rights, democracy and a 'fair go' can allow this to happen.
