East Lake Community Support for Seth Lawson

It has recently been brought to the attention of the alumni and current students of East Lake High School that a current teacher, Seth Lawson, has been accused of inappropriate relations with a current student on a recent school trip to Europe. Despite both Mr. Lawson and the student denying the incident, the Pinellas County School Board has pursued the case and has reserved the right to terminate Mr. Lawsons employment with the county.

This petitions focus is to rally support from students both past and present, as well as members of the East Lake community, for Seth Lawson who we feel has been misrepresented by some participants of the investigation. Any student who has walked the halls of East Lake High School or has attended an Eagle Sporting Event has felt the positive effects Seth Lawson can have on the school community. From orchestrating Blue Crue Fan Events to Coaching Junior Varsity Football and Varsity Baseball, Track and Field to opening his room to any student whenever he or she needs it, Seth Lawson becomes more than a teacher to the East Lake student, he becomes a mentor and a friend. It is for that reason that it cannot be allowed for Mr. Lawsons employment to be terminated as his presence at East Lake High School is too essential to the livelihood of the student body, as the undersigned are willing to attest. We ask that you consider the impact your decision will have on the students of East Lake High School both past and present. Thank you for your consideration.
