We would like to urge you to show some empathy and compassion in regards to Nasser Mubaraks case. We urge you to exercise your discretionary powers and end his 8-year ordeal.
Nasser Mubarak arrived to Australia more than 8 years ago. He is a stateless person from Kuwait. His application for asylum was rejected 6 years ago, but he could not be deported anywhere as no country would accept him.
His son is an Australian citizen, who is married and has 5 children. The other family members (wife and 8 children) are living overseas as they could not reunited with the father for the whole period. He recently received photo of his children overseas where he could not recognise his youngest son after 8 years of separation. The whole family (including the sons Australian family) is suffering because of your department refusal to grant Mr Mubarak a huminatarian visa to reunite with his family and end its ordeal.
We understand that Mr Mubarak is on brink of collapse. He is receiving anti-depressant medication regularly.
Through the last 8 years (including 4 years in detention) he contracted many other diseases in result of this ordeal, including diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol level and recently severe lung infection. His life is permanently on hold.
Please end his and his familys ordeal and grant him a humanitarian visa. Without granting him such visa, he will be statless forever and he will never see his family again.
