Erin Votes on town Growth including the Financial, Environment and Social Impact

We must speak out as Erin residents if we do not want growth to more than double the size of our town (well above current growth projections); be subject to a centralized sewage treatment plant that will cost about $65 million to build which we will have to pay for; hook up and decommissioning costs of our septic system that is anticipated to be $35,000 per household; and see the fabric of our town shift as it will be torn up to put sewers in, traffic will dramatically increase, schools will potentially be very overcrowded as Upper Grand has no plans to put additional schools in our school, recreational facilities will be stressed past their limit and overall our town will become a suburban sprawl community.
We believe that any major shifts in town direction must benefit existing tax paying residents who have helped to build this community to what it is today. Financial concerns based on further major property tax increases and a large out of pocket expense to hook up is significant for many existing residents. We need full disclosure and transparency on how the town will be impacted.
Our social and environmental fabric is critical to our community and these issues must be closely assessed. If we do have minor septic tank issues, lets fix them at a minor cost relative to a centralized system.
