Everyone deserves decent housing - build more council houses

I have worked for over 20 years for a charity who asissts people with their housing needs, I have seen a sharp decline with the standard of housing and think we are on our way back to the slum housing of the 30's and 40's, this i feel is due to the disasterous policy of the'right to buy' council properties, this could of worked if they had built more council houses to replace those bought, but alas they did not, now we have greedy private landlords over charging for properties that are sub standard !!! of course there are good landlords but not enough, the laws to protect people are weak, long drawn out and expensive to enforce, and im sure councils feel frustrated at this inadequate system.
IT IS OUR RIGHT TO DECENT COUNCIL HOUSING, NOT JUST FOR OURSELVES BUT FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS, we entrust our goverment officials to spend our money wisely, remember they are WORKING FOR US, there is money available we just have to get our priorities right.
I have seen with my own eyes people living in appaling conditions, surely this is not how a decent society should look after its most vunerable citizens.
