EXTEND THE APRIL 2013 RED ZONE SETTLEMENT DEADLINE - PETITION TO MINISTER BROWNLEE

The residents in the Avon Loop, Richmond South and North Linwood and other red-zoned areas are seeking government revision of the final settlement date imposed on the affected property owners. We believe that the shortened April 2013 deadline is inequitable, unfair and unreasonable and we request to be given the same amount of time to find a replacement property and settle as the residents in the first red zones announced on 23 June 2011. Furthermore, we believe that the extension would have wider benefits such as avoiding processing bottleneck problems in EQC or CERA and not contributing further to the rental market difficulties. We are therefore asking the government to intervene and change the settlement / exit property date to at least the end of April 2014 or later.
