Fair Budget for Madison Public Library

We believe that the Madison Public Library is an important factor in what makes Madison, New Jersey such a wonderful place to live. Our local library provides outstanding educational and cultural opportunities for learning, camaraderie and discovery for all its citizens including young adults and children that cannot be duplicated by surrounding communities. We understand that Madison is facing difficult financial times and that the Library along with every department within the Borough faces cutbacks.

We the undersigned ask the Mayor and Borough Council to be balanced and fair to all departments within the Borough government when deciding where and how much to cut from the budget. During times of economic hardship the number of residents using the resources of the library dramatically increases. A decrease in the librarys personnel, hours, programs, services, and materials will negatively reflect on the entire Borough of Madison; any budget reductions should be thoughtfully made.
