To Join The
Interstate Wildlife Violators Compact
(IWVC)
Currently, 25 States (Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming) are associates in this co-operative legislation which prohibits poachers who have been convicted in one Member State from hunting and fishing in other Member States. Legislation to join the Compact is pending, or expected shortly, in the States of Alaska, Delaware, Kentucky, Maine, Ohio, South Carolina, and West Virginia.
To date, it is estimated that over 4,000 poachers and other game violators have been identified under the IWVC, and their hunting and fishing privileges have been revoked in all Compact Member States. This Compact puts lawbreakers on notice that they cannot simply move from one State to another, without thought of penalty.
We, the undersigned, wish to ask Governor Rick Perry, the Texas Legislature and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, to enact legislation to have our State join this Compact.
