To: The better informed Residents of Sebastopol

How is it possible to turn down an offer to cover the whole city of Sebastopol in free wireless internet. The internet, contrary to some sebastopolian belief, is not the devil nor some radioactive substance that may decay. The internet is a very sophisticated tool that allows educators, students and anyone who cares to "surf" it to access unimaginable amounts of information. I hope people who signed the previous petition to ban free wifi at least understand what the internet is.

Free wifi would allow anyone in Sebastopol to have access to the internet, given that they have a computer, despite their ability to pay for it. This would greatly help out those residents in Sebastopol who can't afford the internet but would like to use it and will save others 20-50 dollars a month depending on their internet plan.

The pleas of these inconsiderate group of people from Sebastopol claim that Wi-fi will harm us. Are they even real people? Wi-fi is used everywhere these days, I can drive through Sebastopol and at almost any given time pick up some kind of Wi-fi access point. Imagine all the people living in San Francisco where Wi-fi is everywhere, are they at all hurt? What about employers who install multiple wireless access points throughout their buildings where employees work every day? Those employees aren't affected. Please read Sonic.net CEO's blog which has downloadable sources of research clearly demonstrating that high frequency waves have no harmful effect.

Why are the residents of Sebastopol so afraid of this so called "harmful" wireless radiation. The wireless internet protocol has been around for 11 years and has now spread to many cities where the local government strongly supports it. Philadelphia, St. Cloud Florida, Corpus Christi, Texas and many other large cities employ free or city wide coverage for wireless internet access.
