We the undersigned, respectfully call on the Prime Minister, the Foreign Secretary and the Government of the United Kingdom to without any delay, secure the release of William Shaw MBE, from the Pul-e-Charki prison in Kabul, Afghanistan and return him to the United Kingdom. Mr Shaw was convicted and sentenced to 2 years imprisonment on 26 April 2010, in a Courtroom funded by your Government to deal with high level corruption in Afghanistan. The charges against Mr Shaw were without foundation and dealt with without thorough investigation by what could only be described as a Kangaroo Court, where the findings were pre-determined and politically motivated. William Shaw must be released and repatriated immediately; the thus far lackluster actions of the Foreign Office in allowing this miscarriage of justice to have progressed to this stage in the first case can be addressed when he is safely back home.
