Freedom of Usernames

We ,the undersigned, hereby request that you immediately remove the restriction of dashes, underscores, and other things in Newgrounds usernames. We believe in these reasons why usernames should not be restricted:

*People have the exclusive right to include anything in their username. Not only does a username tell everyone who the person is, but it tells people something about themselves. Removing things from usernames does nothing but restrict users' freedom of speech.

*The phrase "Grand scheme" that Tom Fulp used to announce the restriction is way too broad, and Fulp provided no just cause to restrict usernames. The way people express themselves does NOT have to comply with a scheme of a website, and people do not have to be forced to adjust to this "scheme"

*Checking usernames wastes too much time, too much code, and is pointless for the progression of a website.

*Newgrounds.com is, and has been, all about the freedom of speech. Flash Portal entries can contain anything legal, the BBS is one of the few remaining forums that does not filter out profanity, and allows almost total freedom of speech, and if you have something to express, Newgrounds allows it. If they are still centered around this great freedom, then why place a stupid restriction on usernames that does nothing but cause problems within the community?

*You have also said that if we do not comply with your pointless restrictions, you will FORCE OUR USERNAMES TO COMPLY! Restricting usernames is one thing, but forcing a pointless restriction that costs time, website bandwidth, backlashes in the community, and violation of our God-given right to free speech onto us! That is the exact opposite of the beliefs of Newgrounds!

If you do not reverse the restriction, we will continue to fight for our right to an unrestricted username. Those of us that still have "invalid" names will still try and fight to keep our freedom. Take this petition into consideration and do the right thing.
