This is for all of the video game fans that are recieving a bad reputation from the negative media over the past few years. Ctrlaltdel-online.com's creator Tim Buckley puts the rebuttle to Jack Thompson's statements about gaming and its "effects" on children quite eloquently. I will be checking to see if this will be supported by any of the major online comics such as the previously mentioned CAD; also Penny Arcade and Vgcats. The basic premise of the petition is this:
"We have never committed a crime or act of violence that constitutes as unlawful and are also avid fans of mature games, explicit songs, and all other things that can be interpreted as "violent media"."
This statement was created by me but is inspired by Tim Buckley's interview with CBS news. The statistics show that "mature gamers" are, overall, mature and talented individuals that can distinguish between the real and the fantasy. This petition, when signed, states that you are one of these people, one that can see that many factors attribute to "teen violence" and not just an umbrella incorporation of "violent gaming" to be the only cause.
This is a petition to Jack Thompson and those like him to see the statistical light and stop his "crusade" against gaming; it was not the music industries fault, it wasn't the comic book creator's fault, and it will never be the gaming industries fault.
