Help Poggle - a 6-month old Pit mix at PAWS

A friend advised of a dog that is at high risk. This is a petition to request PAWS not to euthanize this 6-month young dog and get him some training and socialization instead.

From Constance: "A client of mine who volunteers as a dog-walker at PAWS just called, near to tears, to see if I know of anyone who can help with a pittie-mix pup. He is six months old. His name is Poggle. Beth says he is very, very sweet, but he hasnt had enough social time or anyone work with him. Shelter life has gotten to him, and he just last week started to lunge and bark at people (children in particular) who walk by his kennel. PAWS intends to euthanize him this week."

PAWS does not euthanize healthy, adoptable companion animals nor do we euthanize animals for space or simply because they have been in the shelter for a certain length of time. As an organization committed to the welfare of animals in our care, we euthanize companion animals only when all other reasonable courses of treatment and options for appropriate placement in a home have been exhausted. For every animal in our care, PAWS explores all avenues prior to recommending euthanasia, and remains committed to saving as many animals as possible."

Poggle has not had training, and we believe has not had a fair chance yet. He can certainly find a good home.

Poggle needs socialization and training. Barking is common in young dogs without adequate socialization and can be easily cured at a young age. Some dogs bark when they get excited, some bark because they are asking you to play. It is not an expression of any intent to attack or cause harm.

We would like to appeal to PAWS to train Poggle and find him a good loving home.
