Highland City Police Dept

The city of Highland City deserves a police department, the Polk County Sheriffs Office has done a good job considering the small amount of manpower they have on the street, but the city is still full of drugs and crime and is still growng with an estimated 500 homes being built at the present time. The city needs at least 1 officer on patrol 24 hours a day 7 days a week, for many reasons, these include but are not limited to being able to reduce if not stop the criminal element in the city, and speeding on US 98 S., 540, 540A, Yarborough Rd., and all ajoining roadways thereof. The proposed police department would also be able to backup the Polk County Sheriffs Office Deputies in the area for routine calls for service and vice versa, thus saving the Sheriffs Office and police department manpower, while also increasing backup response time for the officer and deputy. The citizens and businesses of Highland City, both current and future need a feeling of security and protection as the city grows in population, as well as a sense of well being in their city.
