The following is a petition to the mayor of Half Moon Bay (Mike Ferreira) and city council members. The undersigned individuals residing in the coastside communities in and around Half Moon Bay advocate the construction of a concrete skate park on a portion of the newly acquired Nurserymen's Exchange property in Half Moon Bay. The current skate park on Kelly Avenue is antiquated and reflects poorly on the city as evidenced by the following.
The Half Moon Bay Skate Park is falling apart as we speak. The quarter pipes are all unpeeling layers of plywood, actually everything is pretty much falling apart except the pyramid in the middle. If youre in the area I guess you could swing by but its not really worth it. --- From the Caliskatz Website, a website that locates and reviews skate parks throughout California.
Rated 1 out of 5 stars by Skate nor cal.com who offers this:
A pretty weak ramptech park with a decent mini ramp and a really lame street course. One of the "just-barely-able-to-call-it-a-skate-park" parks in California.
It is the understanding of the undersigned that Wourmhoudt Inc has already been contracted to design and/or build a concrete skate park at the existing skate park location on Kelly Avenue once the Wavecrest School has reached completion. We the undersigned believe the Wavecrest project may have a difficult time reaching fruition. Therefore, an alternate site is required. The Nurserymen's Exchange property would be ideal since the possibility of park development at this location has already been advocated by the public both in the Half Moon Bay Review and on the internet via the Midcoast forum lists. For the good of the city and the youth of Half Moon Bay we ask you to give serious consideration to the construction of a park at this location.
