HWY 404 Expansion - Vandorf Noise Pollution

As the population and traffic volume on highway 404 in York Region grows substantially each year, so does the noise pollution generated by the highway. Given that plans are underway to expand HWY 404 from highway #7 up to Green Lane, we must ensure that steps are taken to reduce the exposure of both humans and wildlife to increased amounts of noise pollution in our town. The noise pollution along the stretch of highway 404 between Bloomington Rd. and Aurora Rd. is extensive and the lack of noise barriers in some areas along this stretch of highway leaves many houses in the community of Vandorf exposed to an unreasonable amount of noise generated by traffic. This traffic noise can have detrimental effects on both humans and wildlife in these areas and is only getting worse.
We propose that sound barriers be erected along highway 404 in the areas between Bloomington Rd. and Aurora Rd. where no noise barriers currently exist. The effect of these proposed barriers will be to reduce the amount of unacceptable highway noise that residence of the Town of Vandorf are currently exposed to.
