The town of Kentville set traps in the Crescent Avenue area and on Brooklyn
Street to trap cats.No residents were given any kind of written warning that
this was to be done.On June 10th,2 local little girls' cat went missing.We
called animal control who knew nothing about what was being done.A call was
put in to the police service and we were told that the cats were to be taken
to local animal clinic and checked out,if no disease was found they were to
be sent to the s.p.c.a.We went to the animal clinic and inquired at around
11 if this cat had been picked up,only to be told that they could not give
out this information.Then came a trip to local town hall,where a call was
put in to the animal hospital....only to find out that the cat was there,had
not been checked for any disease,but automatically put to death.The town had
no right to first of all ,trap neighborhood cats without notifying owners in
the area first,secondly,absolutely no right to put these cats to death
without owners having a chance to get their pets back.Town has no bylaws
regarding cats being allowed outside.Please,please passs this e-mail onto
everyone that you have on your lists,,,,maybe ,just maybe it will stop some
other poor kids from crying over it and other innocent animals from being
killed.

~i have no idea which state these people were in, but...in many states...cat's are considered wild animals, unlike dogs...which they claim have owners...if a dog does damage, the owner is responsible, if a cat does, the person is not considered responsibl

I most places there is a 7 day waiting period before animals are put to sleep. And in thoses areas the laws are official, seems that somehow things were done inprperly
