Immediate Intervention by any means for Cyclone Victims in Burma

We, the undersigned people of Burma hereby give full and unrestricted permission for the International Community in whatever form to enter our country and deliver humanitarian aid to the victims of Cyclone Nargis immediately and fully, using whatever means are necessary, including military intervention, and for unfettered access to the disaster areas to be given to foreign relief experts and NGO representatives, waiving visa requirements.


We do not recognise the so called State Peace and Development Council (SPDC) as having a legal right or having been given a mandate by the people to rule our country, and therefore we would urge the international community to respect the overriding will of the people in this desperate situation.


We believe that this already terrible natural disaster has now been propagated into a man-made disaster by the neglect and active obstruction of the delivery of aid, and the denial and delays in issuing visas to foreign aid workers. We believe these actions to have been untaken purposefully by the SPDC who have fully understood that the consequences of these actions will, and already have, resulted in thousands of deaths both directly, or through lack of medical facilities, starvation and lack of clean drinking water and through the spread of diseases which are already prevalent after the cyclone such as dysentery, pneumonia and cholera. This is obvious to the people of Burma and the world from ample documented evidence both following the catastrophe, and for the last 46 years, that the military rulers of Burma are only interested in solidifying their grip on power and not in the wellbeing of the people of Burma.


For all the above mentioned reasons, we the undersigned people of Burma, deny the authority of the SPDC and hereby give the peoples permission and call for a coordinated International humanitarian response to this disaster without delay.
