Improve wages and conditions for farm workers

Farm workers earn about 45 cents for each 32-pound container of tomatoes they pick, and that subpoverty wage has remained stagnant for almost 30 years. They do not enjoy the same rights as workers in other industries and do not receive overtime or health care. Annual income for farm workers is extremely low--averaging $7,500 to $10,000, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
Please take action today to help end these deplorable conditions. Tell McDonald's and Chipotle to support fair wages for farm workers and sign an agreement with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers.
I urge you to work with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers to ensure improved wages and the participation of farm workers in the protection and advancement of their own rights within your tomato supply chain. Certainly, "Food With Integrity" should include "Work With Dignity" for the men and women who toil to bring tomatoes to the tables of your restaurants across the country.
Until conditions are improved and farm workers are paid and treated with dignity I will not eat at McDonald's or Chipotle's and I will highly encourage my friends and family to avoid eating at these establishments.
