Improved payscale for faculty in IITs, IIMs

As India heads into a new era with many opportunities waiting to be tapped, more and more professionals are needed for sustained progress. An important requirement for producing people with high levels of skills and abilities is the presence of good faculty in all institutes of higher learning, at least in the premier institutes, like IITs, IIMs and NITs.

However, there is already a dearth of faculty in these institutes, and with many faculty retiring every year, numbers are dwindling fast. The upcoming 54\% increase in intake is going to upset the teacher-student ratio heavily, unless many able persons are recruited at the earliest.

Unfortunately, since the faculty payscales are governed by UGC norms, qualified people often find other options more lucrative in terms of compensation, so not many are coming forward to become faculty in these institutes. Therefore, please sign this petition to request the UGC to increase the salary of faculty in educational institutions of repute to higher scales in order to attract more qualified persons to take up academic positions in these institutes.

I request you to take this seriously, and sign this petition addressed to the Ministry of Human Resource Development to review and consider an increase in the payscale of faculty in these institutes.
