Increase the Quality of Officiating in the Belmont 4x4 league

We, the players in the Belmont 4x4 league refuse to pay for another season of hockey until the Ice Hockey Officials of Northern California (IHONC) is instituted as the leagues officiating body.

The advantages of IHONC include:
1. Regular training and preparation for all referees
2. Guaranteed scheduling
3. Incident reports both for players and for officials
4. A rotation of officials, avoiding any familiarity breeds contempt issues
5. No material increase in fees

IHONC handles 14 leagues and 19 rinks in northern California.

There have been a number of complaints about the quality and behavior of the referees in the league which have not been addressed by the rink. IHONC will not be a silver bullet, but it will institutionalize the relationship between players and officials, and give much more definition to the rules, and processes.

With IHONC we will have 2 trained and certified referees at each and every game. In the case where a dispute arises, we will have a direct line to the IHONC president to register our grievances.
