Depleted uranium weapons are radioactive. They are being used by the ton right now by the United States military and its allies, contaminating civilians, soldiers, the food, soil and water with radioactive particles that will persist for 4.5 billion years -- as long as the lifetime of the earth!
Cancers in Iraq have increased 12-fold since these weapons were first employed in the first Gulf War. Children are being born with hideous birth deformities wherever depleted uranium has been used.
Vets are coming home sick. More than half the American vets from the first Gulf War are now disabled. Their children, too, suffer severe birth defects. The continued use of uranium weapons will damage our genome beyond repair.
We call on all the Nations of the world to censure those who are using these weapons of mass destruction. The use of such weapons is a war crime according to all the conventions of war.
We call for a global summit meeting to be held as soon as possible, and we ask the nations to agree to JUST STOPthe production and sale of ALL nuclear weapons NOW, beginning with depleted uranium, and proceeding to eliminate all weapons of mass destruction, so that we may take up the urgent task of repairing the world -- before it's too late.
