Justice for the Murder of Nupur Srivastava

We, the signatories of this Petition insist that the Marion County Prosecutors Office in Indiana NOT offer a plea to any lesser charge to the Defendant, Michael Wilson, in this case. While we understand that plea bargaining is an essential tool to manage the influx of criminal cases on a regular basis in all prosecutorial offices, cases exist where this simply is not an option. THIS CASE IS ONE OF THEM. The horrific and depraved actions of Wilson, who purposefully poured gasoline on Nupur and set her on fire, causing her physical pain beyond what most individuals will ever face in their lifetime and ultimately causing her death, cannot be handled in the same way as other murder cases the office prosecutes.

We demand that the Deputy Prosecutor in this case act for justice, and permit only a plea to first degree murder, the top count, with no recommendation other than the maximum sentence by the State. If the Defendant does not want to take responsibility for his actions and plead guilty, then we insist the Deputy Prosecutor fulfill his duties to the public and TRY THIS CASE. We will be closely monitoring the prosecution of this matter, and as the public, call for justice in the wake of Nupurs murder.
