Keep Beverly Hills Cop IV Rated R

Brett Ratner has recently stated that he would like to produce a film that is Rated PG so that all fans, especially those of a newer generation, can enjoy the film.
Fans of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise recognize that the success and endearment of this saga to movie-goers the world over relies heavily on the fish-out-of-water juxtaposition of the impoverished and street-smart main character (Axel Foley) to that of his conservative surroundings (Beverly Hills and its citizens), and in resolving the conflict and dealing with the uptight culture, Foley often uses vulgar yet witty remarks and routines to incense the antagonist(s) and foil their plots. To remove this sensibility, this tendency to shock and exploit the delicate emotions of the Beverly Hills citizens, is to effectually kill the character millions of fans came to know and love in the mid-80s. And furthermore, desecrating the character for financial means, while no oddity in this age of cinema, is the most feeble argument Ratner and his backers can provide in justifying the move towards a PG rating. We the fans will be quiet no longer when our favorite series are dredged up only to be demolished before our very eyes. We will not sit quietly and watch artistic vision trounced by greedy marketing. Consider yourself warned, Ratner. We, the undersigned, will boycott your film if it is rated PG.
