Keep KC-135 aircraft in Birmingham

The Alabama Air Guard at Birmingham should keep the KC-135R's aircraft.
2005 Brac wants to move the KC-135R tankers to Knoxville, Main, and
Arizona. This would cost Birmingham jobs and essentially shut Birmingham
down as a flying unit. Birmingham is already trained for the R-model
mission and all the infrasture to support the aircraft has been built.
Birmingham is in a better location geographically to support the Southeast
United States. There are no cost savings in moving the aircraft to other
bases. There should be no re-alignment of the aircraft to inferior units
in other states for the sake of politics. We feel it would be a mistake to
move the KC-135R's aircraft from Birmingham both from a monetary savings
standpoint and using military value as criteria.
