The North East School of the Arts, a magnet program on the campus of Robert E. Lee High School, is in jeopardy of being shut down due to a lack of state funding. The Board intends to meet in February to determine a course of action.
We wish to make it abundantly clear that closing the magnet school is not an option. There are far too many funding options -including charging tuition and scaling back the program- for closure to even be on the table.
As residents of the North East school district, we will not reelect ANY NEISD Board member who votes to close NESA.
