The students, graduates and teachers of Orange Walk Technical High School, would like to express our discontent with the decision of the Ministry of Education & Youth whereby a letter received and signed by the Chairlady of the Board of Management of OWTHS has informed us that effective September 2011, the name of the School will be changed from Orange Walk Technical High School to the Elodio Aragon Technical High School.
In this regards, we reject the decision to change the school name and would like to point out that this decision was made without consulting with the Students, Teachers and including the Board of Management. We find this very disrespectful coming from the Minister of Education and as past Graduates, Students and Teachers of this Institution, we stand firm in solidarity with all undersigned petitioners, requesting your input in ensuring that the name of the school name remain as Orange Walk Technical High School.

I strongly disagree with the idea of changing the name of Orange Walk Technical High School. I think that an institution name that has existed for more than 28 years should not be changed to a political name just to satisfy one persons needs or wants.
