The Australian National Kennel Council wants to register all Kangal Dogs as Anatolian Shepherds.
The Kangal Dog is a National Treasure of Turkey. It is a wonderful and unique breed and to state that it is the same as an Anatolian Shepherd is not only an insult to the breed but to the Turkish Nation. We need to preserve the Kangal Dog breed!

Turkey, country of origin of the Kangal, recognises this as a breed so why do we look to remove it. As a breeder, if I had worked for years to try to establish the breed, it would be crushing to have the ANKC abolish the breed.

Kangals are genetically diffrent and are an ancient breed.Anatolians is a rather recent breed bred in America using a turkish Akabash and Kangal making the essentially a mix or mutt breed and are not even reconized as a Turkish breed of dog by the Turkish

The Anatolian and Kangal are two different dogs. Please don't ruin the wonderful Kangal breed by calling it Anatolian and having people breed these dogs. Kangals are very consistent in their breeding. Mixing Anatolians with them would change that and then
