As self-proclaimed true blue fans of the University of Kentucky mens basketball team, we understand the tradition and importance of the program. When Orlando Tubby Smith was hired, he immediately coached the team to its 7th NCAA title. During the time since that championship, he has led the team to numerous regular season SEC titles, SEC Tournament championships, and several #1 and #2 rankings in the NCAA Tournament.
We feel it is in the best interest of the basketball program for the University of Kentucky to continue to employ Coach Smith as head coach of the mens basketball team. Most teams experience hardships and irrational expectations, and the University of Kentucky is no exception to this. Coach Smith, during these years of seemingly constant abuse from the irrational side of the fan base, has maintained his composure, professional demeanor, and has continued to run a controversy free, clean program. This, along with his status as one of the best coaches in the country, is why we feel he is an asset to the University of Kentucky.
We, the undersigned, request that the University of Kentucky allows Coach Smith to remain head coach for, at minimum, the remainder of his contract. This is dependent, of course, on the will of Coach Smith to remain in his current position.

As long as Tubby Smith is here, let's support him until he decides to leave on his own, his contract expires, or worst, the university lets him go. I am a UK Basketball team supporter no matter who the personnel are on it.
