WE THE UNDERSIGNED residents of Onondaga County, NY, support the residents and caregivers at the Van Duyn Home & Hospital, and are concerned about the homes ability to continue operating as a public nursing home.
WE VALUE the vital role that Van Duyn plays in our community, providing our seniors a safety net, with high-quality care to all county residents, regardless of ability to pay or severity of need, that cannot be matched by the private sector.
WE REQUEST that our elected leaders at the State and Local Government levels work cooperatively to resolve the funding issues that currently threaten Van Duyns operations. We call on our State leaders to reform the outdated Medicaid funding system that does not properly reimburse Van Duyn for the majority of our residents. We call on our local elected leaders to make a commitment to funding Van Duyn with our local tax dollars, as necessary -- just as we fund other vital public services.
