We the undersigned petition that representatives of Cardiff Against The Incinerator be allowed to speak at the Cardiff Council planning committee meeting on 15 August 2012.
Cardiff Against the Incinerator have led the fight against Viridor's plan for a 350,000-tonne-a-year incinerator to be located within 500 metres of people's homes and workplaces. It is due to our intervention that Cardiff Council have complied with the law in launching the current consultation on the incinerator which will be discussed at the 15 August meeting. Moreover, without the presence of anti-incineration campaigners, councillors will hear only the opinions of Council officers who, in previous planning discussions around the incinerator, have shown themselves to be irretrievably biased.
We were told today, 7 August, by Mr Phil Williams of Cardiff Council's planning department that protocol requires we obtain 50 signatures by close of business on 8 August in order to ensure we are allowed to speak.
