Let James Tate Attend Prom

Your decision to ban James Tate from his senior prom is an absolute disgrace. His actions might have broken school rules, but his punishment does not fit his offense. He used cardboard and tape to post a message to a girl to ask her to the prom, which resulted in no apparent damage to the building or persons involved. It was a harmless, and sweet, gesture to a girl which she will surely remember for the rest of her life.

It's his senior prom, his one and only senior prom. Prom is a very special part of a student's high school career. It's the final step of your childhood and the first step of starting your adult life. People will remember their prom for years to come. I don't know if you went to your senior prom, madam, but if you did I'm sure you remember it today and how special it is. You cannot deprive this young man of that for this small and insignificant offense. Especially seeing as James is an outstanding student with a very clean record.

An international outcry has started because of this. Communities have been formed around this. Shelton Mayor Mark Lauretti and other politicians have condemned your decision. Major companies, such as Red Bull and Pepsi, have condemned your decision. Your decision is wrong, it's simply wrong.

We, The Undersigned, demand that you allow James Tate and his two friends to attend their senior prom.
