We, the people of the United States of America, are being gouged at the gas pump!
Inflation and general prices are rising due to rising gas prices.
The US tourism industry, which was already suffering from weather and terrorism related problems, is taking a huge hit from the outrageous gas prices. US citizens are cutting back on travel and other discretionary spending because of inflationary gas prices.
As the elected leaders of this great country, you must take steps to lower and cap gas prices before consumers and the economy suffer more damage.
Winter is coming in a few months and extremely high gas and heating oil prices will gouge the pocketbook of homeowners and businesses. Low and fixed income people will suffer the most and some will have to choose between heat and food or medicine.
Air-conditioning bills for the extremely hot summer of 2005 have already taken a toll on the consumer pocketbook. A long, cold winter of skyrocketing heating prices will inflict even more economic pain.
