Maricopa Fire Fighters reinstatement

We, the undersigned citizens of Maricopa, Arizona, do, by affixing our names to this petition, call for the immediate reinstatement of Cody Ashton, and Chris Hertzog.
This firing of these two young firefighters was completely unwarranted and with ill regard to the betterment of the community and the two individuals involved.
We feel this firing had no grounds for merit, and as the firefighters in question are city employees, we feel that the interim Chief had no authority to do so without a proper investigation into the alleged situation.
According to published statements no investigating has been done to determine the innocence or guilt of the two in question.
We, the undersigned, feel that these two individuals were wrongfully dismissed due to undue pressure applied in an attempt to draw criticism away from other city officials.
We hereby call for their immediate reinstatement, while a full investigation is completed, at which time appropriate policy will be established within the department, with regards to off duty behavior.
Not only is it against the law for employment to be terminated due to a situation outside of the work environment, but with regards to any charges being filed or any criminal actions, there were none to be had, as no investigation was processed.
Appropriate punishment for such situations should be decided on the prosecutability of the situation. In this case the alleged victim did not press charges and the PCSO officer present did not arrest any of the three individuals alleged to be involved.
Reinstatement should be immediate. Thank you.
