MK No Way

Dear Colchester United

We the undersigned call upon Colchester United to reconsider their decision to play MK Dons in a pre-season friendly, and urge them to abandon the fixture in favour of other opponents. The franchising of Wimbledon Football Club, its relocation to Milton Keynes away from its cultural roots, and the subsequent dismantling of not only everything which associated this once proud club with its heritage (i.e. the name, badge, club colours etc.), but also directly resulting in the demise of non-league MK City, is surely one of the worst manifestations of commercialisation in the modern game. We are appalled that Colchester United, unlike so many other clubs in the football world, are prepared to provide financial support to the franchise by playing this pre-season friendly.

On May 6th 2006 at approximately 5pm we were probably the proudest football fans in the world - please don't tarnish that pride, cancel the fixture.
