Stevie Ray Vaughan was one of the greatest guitar players and overall musicians to ever live. His triumph over drugs and alcohol gave inspiration to countless people. And, on top of that, he was absolutely stunning in front of an audience. He has given some great shows. But, we need Epic/Legacy and Jimmie Vaughan to give us more of his live recordings. They have given us a lot, but there is a lot more to give. If Stevie cannot release another album of fresh material, then let's get as much audio and video of him playing the guitar as possible. There are many great performances left to release. Philadelphia at The Mann Music Center 1987. Colorado and Albuquerque from the 1989 tour with Jeff Beck. His last performances in Houston and Austin in 1990. Tokyo, Japan in 1985. And, if they ever find a soundboard, the last show in Alpine Valley. And these are just a handful of great performances that he gave.
This is not done with any malice or anger towards Epic/Legacy or Jimmie. Jimmie Vaughan has done a great job of managing his brother's estate, not letting it turn into the zoo that was Jimi Hendrix's or Jim Morrison's or Kurt Cobain's. But this petition is a way of showing, in a condensed form, how many people still love and care for Stevie and his music. SRV is still one of the best. Rock on!
